About Me

My name is Irem Lewis. I am 15 and a sophomore at BVW. My interest in photography began about 5 years ago while my family and I were on a cruise to the Galapagos Islands. My dad had given me one of his old cameras and you would always see me with it because I had some much fun portraying what I saw in the world to other people. I came out of that trip with over 1000 pictures, a couple earned me some contest rewards after they were chosen as the best of whatever group I had entered them for. I had so much fun learning how to use and develop the film in this class (even though the black bags still give anxiety and the fact that my hands still hurt from swishing those chemicals around... everything was great xD). If there was a common theme for my shots it would probably be that they all have some element of either curiosity or shadowing. Most of my photos were influenced by whatever music I was listening to when I was out that day, which includes more of an alternative outlook on everything. I'm defiantly considering continuing photography both film and digital. My dad and I have actually looked at some equipment that could help us make our very own dark room in our basement!
